The women’s soccer team jumped out to their first 3-0 start since 1993 after picking up two wins this past week. Mason demolished the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers 6-0 in the home opener on Friday night. Forwards Tiana Kallenberger and Jessica Pisasale each scored their first ever collegiate goals. Mason continued their dominance on Sunday, defeating the Howard Bison 4-0. Senior forward Kelly Keelan, last season’s scoring leader for Mason, tallied her second goal of the season in the 19th minute. In their surprising start, Mason outscored their opponents 9-0 in three games.

The women’s volleyball team won two out of three matches in the D.C. Volleyball Challenge. Mason swept the American Eagles in the opener as junior middle blocker/opposite hitter Holly Goode and sophomore outside hitter Noelle Fanella each recorded 11 kills. As a team, Mason registered 11 blocks. It took five sets for Mason to upend the Georgetown Hoyas. Goode had another outstanding performance with a team-leading 17 kills and three serve aces. Mason sealed the victory in the fifth set with a 15-12 win. However, Mason was not able to extend their winning streak as they were handed the sweep from the George Washington Colonials. From the get go, the Colonials held an advantage in nearly every category. Mason had an early lead in the second set, but the Colonials wrapped up the set with a 7-3 run. The Colonials went on to cruise through the third set 25-14.
